Hi, I'm Bill Hurley with this special edition of the Beach Maniac Island Music Podcast, where today we focus on house concerts, the highly unique and incredibly personal way to connect with your favorite chop rock artists. If you've never been to a house concert, you're missing one of the best kept secrets in live music. Unlike large venues where you're one face in a crowd, a house concert gives you the chance to experience talented musicians in an intimate and relaxed setting. The audience is close enough to see every smile, every laugh, and every interaction between the artists. Between songs, you'll often hear the stories behind the music, the inspiration for the lyrics, and the friendship that makes this community so special.
House concerts have become an important part of the Trop Rock world. They give artists a chance to connect with fans on a personal level, and they give fans the opportunity to experience incredible performances in a way that's simply not possible from the back row of a concert hall. It's less about the stage and more about the personal experience, good music, good friends, and the feeling that for a few hours, everyone is part of the same island family.
There are dozens of house concert venues throughout the country. Many have concerts throughout the year, while some venues have just a few. I even held one in my own backyard in Wisconsin this summer featuring Christopher Dale, attended by about 35 friends and neighbors. Recently, Diane and I had the pleasure of attending a house concert at Timler's Tiki Bar in Franksville, Wisconsin. We've been there before several times, but this time the featured artists were two outstanding musicians, Kirstie Kraus and Jason Acy. Both have made their mark on the Trop Rock scene with their songwriting, musicianship, and entertaining live performances.
And together they created an afternoon that everyone in attendance will remember. I've been to Timler's Tiki Bar several times and came away from every performance feeling like I not only saw incredible talent up close, but that I made new friends, especially with the musicians themselves.
